We’re gonna have a good time

balloons…because it’s our birthday!!  Musicworks turns 2 today and to celebrate we’re throwing a party this Saturday, December 5th.  Candles (all 2 of ‘em) are set ablaze at 2 pm and there will be cake for everyone who comes out to sing to us.  Then the live music starts and doesn’t stop until we close - teachers and students alike will play their seasonal favourites or whatever else springs to their fingers.  Add to the festivities the SALE prices that appear at 10 am Saturday morning and you could spend a whole day here - playing, singing, eating cake not to mention getting your Christmas shopping done (we’ve got something for everyone!).

A Night At the Oskars - this Friday, Nov 27

oskarBetter than a night full of movie stars, this Friday November 27th, be in the same room with some of the most beautiful guitars on the planet AND the man who makes them.  Oskar Graf has been building guitars for more than 30 years and he’s bringing some of them to Musicworks this Friday.  He’ll chat about what goes into his beauties, Terry Tufts and our fearless leader, George Turcotte will play them for you, and if you promise to wash your hands first, you can try them too.  Excellent food and drink will be on hand as well, so eat, drink and listen to these exceptional guitars Friday night at 7:00 pm.  $10 gets you in - call Kathryn or George 256-SING to reserve your spot. http://www.grafguitars.com/

Stephen Bennett comes to Almonte

bennettFor those of you who are unaware of this fingerstyle colossus, it is our great pleasure to introduce you. Hailed as the Jedi Master of fingerstyle guitar, Stephen joins us for a Master Class on Monday, November 16th @ 7:00 p.m., in our piano showroom. Grill him for the inside skinny on his techniques and approach to the guitar and harp-guitar, or simply sit back and be overwhelmed. Tickets can be purchased in store, or by calling 613-256-7529. Not to be missed!

Hidden Treasures Part One

clue2As seen in The Humm, we’re having a bit of a Treasure Hunt here at MMMusicworks. It seems Treebeard received a $100 gift certificate for his 33,001st birthday, and well, lately he’s been, um, forgetting things… Follow the clues on the website and in The Humm and help him find it. If you do, you’ll ease his worried mind and he’ll be almost as happy as he was before Wandlimb & the Entwives forsook the forest for more fertile ground. So happy will Treebeard be, he’ll let you keep it for your own!

MMMusicworks Billboard goes missing…

img_2006

The mysteries continue… MMMusicworks is offering a reward for information leading to the conviction of the villain(s) who stole our missing billboard. Situated on the north side of Highway 29 and facing west, our sign about 5 minutes out of town has been completely removed. The sign easily withstood 5 small hurricanes, one of which blew down Ron’s Fruit Stand - a much bigger edifice than our billboard. Removing the sign was no small task, and would have required a full-size pickup and probably four men - at least two very strong ones. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact George @ 613-256-(as the sign says)-PLAY.
